Hardness Testers

We offer a wide range of hardness testers for a variety of applications. Hardness testers can be supplied new and reconditioned.

We cover the complete range of hardness testers including Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers and Micro-Vickers and Portable Hardness Testers. All hardness testers come complete with a warranty and calibration is available on-site

Vickers Hardness Testers

Vickers Hardness TesterThe Vickers hardness test was developed in 1924 by Smith and Sandland at Vickers Ltd as an alternative to the Brinell method to measure the hardness of materials. The Vickers test is often easier to use than other hardness tests since the required calculations are independent of the size of the indenter, and the indenter can be used for all materials irrespective of hardness. The basic principle, as with all common measures of hardness, is to observe the questioned material's ability to resist plastic deformation from a standard source. The Vickers test can be used for all metals and has one of the widest scales among hardness tests.

Brinell Hardness Testers

XHB-3000 smallThe Brinell hardness test gives the largest indentation of all the hardness tests and is able to reflect the full feature of the material being tested. The test is unaffected by the uneveness of the material and is hence an accurate test of hardness.

Brinell hardness testing is used commonly in metallurgy, forging, casting, untempered steel and in the non-ferrous metals industry

Rockwell Hardness Testers

SHR-150C smallRockwell hardness testing is suitable for measuring the hardness of ferrous, non-ferrous metals and plastic materials. It is commonly used in factories, scientific research institutes and college laboratories.

Micro-Vickers Hardness Testers

XHV-1000 smallMicro-Vickers hardness testers can measure the hardness of ferrous, non-ferrous metals, thin sections ICs, coatings, ply-materials, glass, ceramics, agate, and precious stones.

Portable Hardness Testers

MH320 Portable Hardness TesterWide measuring range with the advantage of portability. Measurement method based upon the Leeb hardness testing theory. The Leeb rebound hardness test method was developed in 1975 by Leeb and Brandestini at Proceq SA to provide a portable hardness test for metals. It was developed as an alternative to the unwieldy and sometimes intricate traditional hardness measuring equipment.

We can also supply previously owned reconditioned hardness testers, please go to our Equipment Search page and search for Hardness Testers

Midland Metrology supplies hardness testers for a wide range of applications from checking the hardness of rubber to rock. All major methods of checking hardness, Vickers, Rockwell, Brinell and Leep are covered. Hardness test machines range from large bench models with modern electronics to small portable hardness testers for checking the hardness of difficult to move items.

Pin sharp images from first class optics, precise loadings of the indentor and sophisticated software on some hardness testers help to ensure the accuracy of the hardness measurement.

Midland Metrology's showroom includes not only brand new hardness testers but also used or previously owned hardness testers which can be an economic alternative to buying a brand new hardness tester. We are happy to advise on all aspects of hardness testing and make recommendations suitable for the application.
